Established in 1995, ConservAmerica is a nonpartisan, nonprofit organization advancing environmental, conservation, and energy policy around a single conviction: a strong economy, a healthy environment, and thriving American communities are not competing goals. They are mutually reinforcing. Affordable, clean, and reliable energy is the foundation that makes it all possible.
We occupy a distinct space in American environmental policy. We reject the premise, common in much of the environmental movement, that conservation requires bigger government, higher costs, or less freedom. A healthy environment and a flourishing economy are not in tension. We exist to prove it.
Conservation, properly understood, is not about locking up resources or restricting human activity. It is about sustaining the natural systems that support human life, prosperity, and freedom over the long term. This reflects a longstanding American ethic of stewardship, a responsibility to care for what we have been given and to pass it on in better condition. It is a tradition that values ordered liberty, personal responsibility, respect for institutions, and prudence in the face of complex systems we do not fully control.
Our approach is pragmatic and grounded in experience. That means pursuing policies that balance economic growth, environmental protection, and human health, rejecting false trade-offs between them. It means a limited federal role that sets clear goals while empowering states, local communities, and those closest to the resource to lead. We favor bottom-up solutions shaped by local conditions over one-size-fits-all mandates, and market-based approaches that harness competition, price signals, and private investment to drive environmental progress. We respect property rights as a foundation for stewardship and long-term investment, support policies that enable innovation rather than prescribe static outcomes, and work to remove unnecessary regulatory barriers that slow or prevent meaningful environmental improvement.
We believe in institutions and the vital role they play in a well-ordered society. But institutions must work for the American public, supporting human flourishing rather than obstructing it. When they fall short of that standard, we believe they should be reformed, not abandoned.
We support an all-of-the-above energy policy that delivers affordable, reliable, and clean energy. That means embracing every American energy source able to compete on those terms, removing barriers that slow the permitting of new energy infrastructure, and trusting competition and innovation – not federal mandates – to provide cleaner energy at a price American families and businesses can afford. A nation that cannot generate reliable, affordable power cannot sustain the prosperity that makes conservation possible in the first place.
We support responsible land and water management that balances conservation with productive use, strengthens rural communities, and maintains outdoor access, including hunting and fishing, for future generations.
America’s environmental and energy challenges are best met not through centralized mandates or abstract theory, but through practical solutions that empower people, reward results, and adapt over time.
