ConservAmerica Welcomes New Senate Leaders to Roosevelt Conservation Caucus on Earth Day

ConservAmerica is proud to welcome Senators Lisa Murkowski of Alaska and John Thune of South Dakota as the new Senate leadership team of the bicameral Roosevelt Conservation Caucus (RCC).

Senators Murkowski and Thune will serve as the Senate co-chairs of the RCC for the 117thCongress. They replace Senators Lindsey Graham of South Carolina and Cory Gardner of Colorado, who helped establish the caucus in 2018. Senator Graham remains an active member of the caucus.

The bicameral Congressional Roosevelt Conservation Caucus is committed to market-based approaches to address land management, environmental and energy challenges. Senator Thune is co-chair of the caucus on the Senate side, along with Senator Lisa Murkowski of Alaska.

The current health crisis surrounding the nation and the world is, among many other things, a stark reminder of both the power of Mother Nature and the fragility of life. We are defined by our relationship with our environment, which is why character and tradition are so important. We must cherish our parks and protect our forest and wildlife areas.

When life gets back to normal, these national treasures will be an essential part of the recovery process for millions of Americans. It is therefore very reassuring to hear that when the U.S. Senate returns in April, one of its priorities will be the Great American Outdoors Act (S. 3422).
