ConservAmerica and C3 Solutions joined together today to submit comments to the Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) regarding the proposed Train Crew Size Safety Requirements rule.
In the proposal, the FRA establishes minimum requirements for the size of train crews. Although several exceptions to the minimum crewmember requirement have been proffered, the proposal would prohibit most train operations with fewer than two crewmembers. Our comments relate to the potential unintended environmental consequences of the rule, which may limit a railroad’s ability to realize operational efficiencies and lead to increased emissions from the movement of freight.
