Today is Giving Tuesday, an annual holiday-themed event created in 2012 to follow in the footsteps of Black Friday, Small Business Saturday, and Cyber Monday. The idea was to extend the biggest shopping weekend of the year to include a worldwide celebration of generosity and provide individuals with a specific occasion for making donations to their favorite charities and advocacy groups.
