WASHINGTON, DC— ConservAmerica President Jeff Kupfer today issued the following statement on the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) proposal to consider the costs and benefits under the Clean Air Act rulemaking process.
“We support smart and effective regulation – and an accurate understanding of the costs and benefits of those regulatory actions is an essential component of responsible regulation. Accordingly, we support EPA’s initiative to clarify and bring greater transparency to the process,” said Kupfer. “Members of both parties have recognized that appropriate cost-benefit analysis can help policymakers and the public understand and weigh the consequences of proposed regulations on public health and the environment, as well as on jobs, economic growth, and the global competitiveness of U.S. business. Ensuring that consistent, evidence-based metrics are used to evaluate agency proposals will go a long way toward removing the specter of political interference from the decision-making process and result in a more balanced regulatory framework.”
