ConservAmerica Calls for Technology and Innovation in Energy Legislation   

WASHINGTON, DC – ConservAmerica joined dozens of nonprofit organizations and trade associations this week on a letter to House leaders urging them to give floor time this fall to a number of energy and climate technology bills that have advanced with broad bipartisan support.

As ConservAmerica has stressed over the past few months of the pandemic and economic slowdown, Congress should help lead America out of this crisis. Many of the bills listed in the letter would help the economy bounce back while also creating greater energy security and mitigating climate change.

ConservAmerica Calls for Technology and Innovation in Energy Legislation     

WASHINGTON, DC –  ConservAmerica joined dozens of nonprofit organizations and trade associations this week on a letter to House leaders urging them to give floor time this fall to a number of energy and climate technology bills that have advanced with broad bipartisan support.

As ConservAmerica has stressed over the past few months of the pandemic and economic slowdown, Congress should help lead America out of this crisis. Many of the bills listed in the letter would help the economy bounce back while also creating greater energy security and mitigating climate change.

Among the bills that ConservAmerica supports:

  • H.R. 2986, the “Better Energy Storage Technology Act,” which would facilitate the research, development, and demonstration of next-generation grid-scale energy storage systems;

  • H.R. 3306 and H.R. 6097, the “Nuclear Energy Leadership Act” and “Nuclear Energy Research and Development Act,” respectively, which would expand nuclear research, development, demonstration, and commercialization efforts at the Department of Energy;

  • H.R. 3597, the “Solar Energy Research and Development Act,” which would accelerate the next generation of solar energy technologies by expanding DOE efforts to improve the capacity, efficiency, manufacturing, reliability, and affordability of solar energy; and

  • H.R. 5428, the “Grid Modernization Research and Development Act,” which would authorize a broad range of R&D activities to enhance the resilience and readiness of the electric grid for a low-carbon future.

“These bills drive emissions reductions and support good-paying jobs,” said Jeff Kupfer, President of ConservAmerica. “Focusing on technology and innovation is the best way to improve our energy security, address the impacts of climate change, and move the country forward.” 

The letter, which was signed by dozens of energy and conservation groups, includes a list of 10 bills currently pending in the House of Representatives that offer a solid legislative foundation for addressing critical technology challenges in advancing cleaner forms of energy.
