Today, President Trump formally announced the United States would withdraw from the Paris Climate accord. This fulfills one of his campaign promises and should surprise no one. The President stated he will immediately begin negotiating a new climate agreement—one that is fairer to U.S. business and citizens.
Climate change is a global problem that requires American leadership. The United States has led the developed world in reduction of greenhouse gas emissions over the past decade—almost entirely attributable to replacing coal-powered electric generation with abundant natural gas extracted with cutting edge technology. We will continue on that trajectory.
American industry, states, universities, research labs, and NGO’s will not slow their momentum in seeking cleaner solutions to our emissions issues because of today’s announcement. ConservAmerica and its partners are pursuing a Zero Regrets policy that cuts taxes on zero emission energy, lowers consumer electric bills, and incents accelerated adoption of cleaner energy production. We believe it is an “America First” proposal that protects our environment and strengthens our economy.
We look forward to working with The White House, The Department of Energy, and the Environmental Protection Agency in promoting ways for America to lead the world in cleaner energy and environmental protection.
