Conservatives for the Environment
Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY)
“The Republican Party is losing the West Coast — all of it, completely, every time now. We’re losing all of New England, every time,” he said. “We can’t win Illinois, so I think we do need people talking about how the party has to change to become a bigger, more inclusive party.” He added that some Californians might be drawn to his brand of libertarian politics even though he may be more conservative on social issues. Rand Paul, quote from LA Times –May 31, 2013
He has said many things in the past that demonstrate his lack of support for successful environmental protection programs. For example, he said the final decision about mountaintop removal mining should rest in the hands of private landowners. He said it enhances property values and is a good thing. He said, “Let’s let you decide what to do with your land. Really, it’s a private-property issue.”
Rand Paul poo poos global warming and laws to protect our environment. He believes corporations and property owners should be trusted to do the right thing. Perhaps he would support selling National parks to private developers.
It’s discouraging to see Conserv America giving exposure to such a Libertarian extremist. I doubt this helps CA/REP attract pro-environment Republican voters who support strong environmental protection programs.
