ConservAmerica Endorses Scott Brown for Senate
Senator Lauded for Environmental Commitment
ConservAmerica, a national grassroots organization of conservation-minded Republicans, is pleased to endorse Scott Brown for re-election to the U.S. Senate from Massachusetts.
Senator Brown is a thoughtful, stewardship-minded problem solver who is able to rise above partisanship to safeguard our environment. This quality israre today, and for all of us who want clean air, clean water, open space and balanced, solutions-oriented policies, it is vital that we send Scott Brown back to Capitol Hill,” ConservAmerica President Rob Sisson said.
“He will work in good faith with any of his fellow lawmakers, regardless of party, to advance mainstream solutions for energy security, pollution control, and the careful stewardship of our natural resources,” Sisson added.
“Senator Brown’s record speaks for itself. He has been a strong defender of clean air and is fighting to protect Massachusetts from upwind air pollution. He sponsored legislation to tighten limits on power plant emissions of harmful soot and smog-forming gases, and voted against ill-conceived legislation to roll back air pollution standards on mercury and other toxic pollution emitted from boilers and incinerators,” ConservAmerica Vice President for Government Affairs David Jenkins said.
“Scott Brown’s commitment to responsible environmental policies is not limited to clean air. He has worked across the aisle to secure better protection of our oceans, including coastal estuaries that support commercially valuable fisheries and are critical to the economies of coastal communities,” Jenkins added.
Senator Brown welcomed the endorsement and pledged to pursue balanced policies that provide the energy we need without sacrificing our health or the environment. “”Our country must pursue an environmental policy that ensures that families can breathe clean air and reduce our dependence on foreign energy sources. I’m proud of my bipartisan record of fighting for clean air, clean water, and conservation of our natural treasures, and I will continue to bring a commonsense approach to both protecting the environment and the family pocketbook,” Brown said.
“The Land and Water Conservation Fund, which is dedicated to expanding open space protection and developing outdoor recreation, has a strong champion in Scott Brown. He backs legislation that would force Congress to be fiscally responsible by using the money strictly for its dedicated purposes, as opposed to the all too common practice of tapping the fund as a piggy bank for unrelated pet projects,” ConservAmerica Vice President for Policy Jim DiPeso said.
“Americans are demanding that members of Congress work cooperatively to solve our country’s problems. Scott Brown is a pragmatic Republican who is willing to roll up his sleeves and put the country’s priorities ahead of politics. We urge Bay State voters to re-elect Senator Brown,” Sisson said.
